The space efficiency is very crucial and to meet this closely all the small cars use the front-engined and front-wheel-drive configuration which is described as FF. The clutch, engine, gearbox as well as differential all get installed at up front. These are accompanied with the ABS pump, air-conditioning, servo, steering mechanism, battery etc.

Due to this it is tough to place the six-cylinder engine within a car. This particularly holds true for the straight-six that is very long for the FF as the gearbox and the clutch need to get put right beside it. You should note that even the large Volvo S80 needed to specially create a compact variety of the gearbox. V6 can act better as it is much shorter. It can be at least placed in the Rover 400.

The engines for the small cars need to be placed transversely, with the exception of BMW 3-series Compact that has a very long bonnet. However, even the transverse mounting can’t assure the placing of the V6. The width found in the V6 (with the exclusion of accessory) gets at least double from the inline-six.

It matters on incline angle (generally 60° or 90°. Due to this it involves much length within the engine compartment. Besides this, the hot exhaust pipes at both the sides of Vee also avoid the placement of components very near. Due to this it requires more clearance to match this situation. We find that most of the small cars are not able to accommodate the V6.

W configuration could have been occurred if the VR6 invention did not happen. Audi researched its W-engines for some time period but it finally pulled out from the plug. Some sources said that it did not get success in solving the difficulties arising in exhaust and ventilation.

You should note that it got basically formed with 3 banks involving 4 cylinders in-line. The difficulty was about the way to run exhaust pipe to meet center bank without leading to overheating of the surrounding as well as without wasting very much space.

It appears that the approach of Volkswagen does not get benefited by the experience Audi as the Volkswagen unit finds its basis from the VR6 that was the under development well during the 80’s. Taking advantage from the VR6’s asymmetric designing, the exhaust at the left VR6 runs out from left side, and exhaust at the right VR6 runs out through right side. As a result the exhaust system acts in the same way as in any kind of Vee engine.

The drawback associated with W-engine is that it needs very thin form of connecting rods. This is because of the fact that the crankshaft remains much shorter in comparison with the V-engines. It is interesting to that the VR6 makes use of con-rods having 20 mm thickness and the W-engines perform with the 13 mm ones. This helps to avoid it from getting racing engines. The tight cylinder heads might also restrict its breathing as well as ventilation.

With the car manufacturing companies having shifted their focus to developing countries like India where the people are greatly obsessed with mileage,the need for making fuel efficient cars increases more but the biggest challenge remains the making most fuel efficient at the prices that are affordable in developing countries.So car manufacturers have been successful,to some extent,but a lot more needs to be done.

Arash AF-8

The founder and owner of the car is Mr. Arash Farboud, he revealed the concept car’s design and this AF-8 sports car has been given the go-ahead for full production.

Mr. Bujar Muharremi and Toby Mellor designed the car while they were on work placement with Arash. At the Geneva Motor show in September AF-8 will be introduced with first deliveries arriving in March 2012.
The car will deliver 550bhp with its V8 engine borrowed from a Corvette ZR-1. Price of the car is expected to start at £60k, and Arash say an ‘R’ version with 700bhp is in the pipeline.

Flatplane crankshaft is a design used in the V8 engine crankshaft. Here all the crankpins are in one plane and just offset 180°.

Earlier V8 engines, recent racing engines as well as some others made use of or still use flatplane crankshaft. It is quite similar to the one used in a flat-four or straight-four engine. You should note that flatplane V8s can use any angle between the banks of cylinder. The 90° and 60° angles are most common among them. They do not have the V8 engine burble as well as the enhanced mechanical balance found in crossplane design.

The good thing about them is that they do not need the large balancing weights used in crankshaft. Natural balance found in big ends is similar to a straight 4. Mercedes E-Class

Mercedes, only name is enough. The E-Class car is fully sensible and German engineers made it much better. Current model of the car is more stylish, well designed and emits low CO2. It is diesel car with starting price from £28,915. Yes you can afford it and enjoy the luxury.

Skoda Superb

Now you can get all those qualities at low price how? The Skoda car has almost all luxury features but available at only £17,445. This is Skoda, beautiful, amazingly designed, comfortable and what it’s ‘Superb’. With 105 bhp diesel it delivers amazing performance, so don’t wait just catch the spacious Skoda Superb.

Flaming Rolls-Royce

This is on the first place in my list because Rolls-Royce is one of my favorite cars and this one made me wild.  This beautiful British car becomes more beautiful or abnormal what you say? It is simply Rolls-Royce and I don’t want to say more about it.

Gold-plated roadster

On the first look you will be able to recognize it as racing car, but it is made for those who proud to drive rich and popular cars, especially gold plated. In the year 2003 price of this car was more than $1 million. The roadster equipped with powerful 500bhp boat engine.

It is similar vehicle like Nick Pugh’s gold-plated roadster.

Gangster car

This car is designed by car customizer supremo Jay Ohrberg. It is deserving car for the title of ‘crazy car’. It is one of the craziest cars I have seen. And can only imagine how it would be from inside.
